Winters pursued a career in advertising and design, working for several of Montréals largest advertising agencies.
In 1982, he founded his own marketing and design communications company specializing in corporate and high-tech product communications.
During the eighties and nineties he received National and International Design Awards while working on many recognized Canadian brands and products.
Commercial work now represents a small part of his time. His interest now is focused on oil painting.
Winters paintings have twice been selected as Christmas cards for "Canadian Save the Childrens Fund" (Cansave), chosen from amongst over 275 fine art entries one year, and from 1,300 entries another year. Only 10 submissions were chosen each year from across Canada.
Each year "Rêves d'automne, Festival de peinture" takes place in Baie-Saint-Paul and as part of that, the "Concours national de peinture". Of the approximately 300 submissions to édition 2011, Winters was chosen as one of 20 finalists.
Winters is motivated and inspired by the changing light in landscape. In his work, he only suggests detail while representing the subject through shapes, brushstroke and their interrelationship.
